The work of Nara Lee spans set design, prop styling, and modular object and furniture design, developed across Nara Lee Studio and nara.world. Based in Paris, her practice explores how objects can shift in meaning, function, and perception through composition, interaction, and context. Rather than approaching design as a fixed outcome, she develops flexible systems of elements that can be arranged, reconfigured, and interpreted in multiple ways. This open-ended approach allows forms to move fluidly between roles—functioning as furniture, props, or visual structures depending on their environment and use. Her work is defined by a balance between structure and play, where simple geometries and bold colour relationships create compositions that are both clear and expressive. Across both commercial and independent projects, she investigates how objects can operate not only as functional tools, but also as elements of visual language and spatial construction. Through nara.world, this approach extends into modular systems and collectible objects, exploring adaptability at different scales—from furniture to smaller, reconfigurable forms. Together, these projects form an ongoing exploration of how design can remain open, responsive, and continuously redefined through use.
